Before setting sail make sure that everything is shipshape below decks.
Stop cocks
Close them
Check Engine
WOBBLED - Engine checks : Water (radiator/heat exchanger, and water filter), Oil levels, Belt not loose, Bilge dry, Electric wires/connections, Diesel tanks have enough fuel
Ensure everything stored
Make sure that there are no loose items anywhere as they will fly around the place and potentially break or break something else
Close everything
Ensure that all cupboards, doors and hatches/windows are closed
Toilets
Ensure they are fully flushed and no water remains in them
GAS
Make sure that the gas has been turned off to the stove
Fridge
If you are not going to be under motor turn the fridge down (check with Captain level to turn it down to) to conserve battery. If you do later turn on the engine you can turn the fridge back to full.
Dustbin
If it is almost full, empty the dustbin and store the full bag in the cockpit locker (or wherever the Captain has decided).
Electrics Panel
Ensure that the correct eletric switches are selected, the goal is to have on those that you need to aid navigation and turn off as many of the others as possible to conserve energy. e.g. ON = Water Pump, Bilge Pump, Navigation Instruments, fridge
VHF Radio
Turn ON and make sure on Channel 16, set squelch and volume
